Why do couples hold hands during their wedding ?

Because they love each other.Why do couples hold hands during their wedding ?
its a sign of togetherness and mutual affection.Why do couples hold hands during their wedding ?
Is it necessary ?
why wouldn't they? its just a sign of affection
At least in our case ... because the officiant told us to.

I think it looks nicer than if we weren't.
it's just for formalities !

you know every boxer before fight shakes hand with it's opponent !
They r scared that the other will run away at the last moment....

Like in ';The Run away Bride';... lol...

its jus a sign to show tat for Life n beyond i promise to stand by u n hold u thru all ur joyous n difficult times...
Why would you not want to hold/be with the person you are getting married too AT THAT MOMENT?
Because often, something like this is said during the ceremony . . .

MINISTER

'; Who gives this woman to be married to this man?';

BRIDE'S FATHER

';Her mother and I do.';

(Bride's father places her hand in Groom's hand and is seated)

It shows that the bride's father is entrusting her to the groom's care and protection.

Of course, this all comes from back in the olden days when women were actually considered to be property. Now, we are no one's property. This giving-away portion of the ceremony may be skipped entirely, if the bride wishes.
I held my husbands hand during our ceremony because I love him so much. There you are holding each others hands committing your love to one another. It wasn't even because we were told we just did it. There is nothing like it, when you holding the hand of your soon to be husband/wife it's magical.
We only did while my officiant was saying a prayer at the end of the ceremony. We faced each other and didn't hold hands. You can do whatever you want.
